Women Who Have Held the Top Spot at the Chamber

The Tuskegee Area Chamber of Commerce has had three women to serve as president of the organization.

Cynthia Walford served one term from 1992 until 1994. Professionally during that time, she was manager of the Tuskegee cable television franchise. Currently she works at SEASHA as Office Manager and Administrative Assistant.

Deborah Biggers served two terms as Chamber president from 2010 to 2012 and 2012 to 2014. For 31 years, she was a practicing attorney with a private law practice in Tuskegee. She earned the title Honorable Judge Deborah Biggers and also made history in 2014 when she became the first woman elected as state court judge in the fifth Judicial Circuit Court of Alabama.

Loretta Alexander was elected twice to serve as Chamber President from 2016 to 2018 and 2018 to 2020. She owned a dry-cleaning and laundry service business in Tuskegee and also owned real estate in this city. The Chamber and the entire community mourned her death when she passed in November 2020.
